Ok so I got the Waves MaxxAudio3 to work by completely uninstalling the Dell quickset driver, installing the realtec driver Christoff16 recommended, then reinstalled the Dell quickset driver from the original drivers and utilities disk. Again, make sure that the build-essential package is installed.
Be respectful and civil. There are indeed drivers on the Realtek website. Sign up or log in Sign up using Google.
After each command, press the Enter key. I hope that this procedure gets things working for you.

DellCares Dell product support: Sign up using Email masxaudio Password. I had updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and to my surprise I found that the Waves maxxaudio is not working. My speakers resonate and vibrate if the sound is too loud omg thanks Dell. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Its kind of funny how the speakers are so crappy that the laptop ships with a software equalizer preset to doubling the sound output.
Waves Maxxaudio not working
I’ve spent the last week trying everything I found to make ir work, to no avail. I have a wifi card with a Realtek chip in it, and I had to get something from their website to get it to even work No offensive, hateful, or low-effort comments.
If you’re just trying to get rid of the popup, the only thing you have to do is disable “Realtek HD Audio Manager” in startup and restart.

You also might have to repeat the process every time you install a new kernel. Did this solve your problem?
Then go into Services. I hope this helps guys! What if i have linux OS on my dell xps 15 and theres no MaxxAudio in it?. Surely there is a way to plug my headphones into my computer without having to go through this nonsense first.

Its Dells fault they cant produce decent speakers without deol shitty EQ to make it sound better. For myself they’re connected together, and hence share the same volume, and I have the realtek drivers installed.
